MLB at Rickwood Field: A Tribute to the Negro Leagues
Honoring baseball history at America's oldest professional ballpark
In collaboration with the City of Birmingham and the Friends of Rickwood, BaAM managed ballpark upgrades preparing the venue to showcase a major league game. As Producer of the event for MLB, BaAM created a special three-day event series at legendary Rickwood Field to honor the legacy of former Negro Leagues and players.
- Events included a Minor League match-up, Juneteenth celebrity softball celebration, and an MLB regular season game between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants
- Multiple fan touchpoints were developed to connect guests with the historic impact of the Negro Leagues, players, and Rickwood Field
Thursday’s game in Birmingham was a beautiful setting in which to further highlight and celebrate the legendary careers of Black players of the era.
I'm glad that the Giants, Cardinals and MLB are doing this, letting everyone get to see pro ball at Rickwood Field. Good to remind people of all the great ball that has been played there, and all the players. All these years and it is still here.
